On I have read and reread the Belgariad and Mallorean and Belgarath the Sorcerer many times and thought I would give this book a try. I made it about 100 pages and couldn't take the whining and complaining of Polgara anymore. I could care less about her first period. All I can assume is that David Edding's wife had a heavy hand in this book.

Belgarath the Sorcerer is another one of those Del Rey series-padding specials - there were a whole bunch of these in the early 90s, where authors rewrote their successful work from the point of view of another character. I adored the Garion books, and I was quite fond of this one, but its charm has worn off - even more than the original series.

For anyone who has fallen as deeply in love with the Belgariad and the Mallorean as I have will truly cherish and enjoy this book.
